SEO is about predicting the future!

If you want to be top of the search engines, you have to predict the future with your blog posts. You maybe thinking, predicting the future, what the hell, but its about blogging on upcoming events.

Take for instance, xmas. Its just under 1 month until christmas, so if you think now what sort of things are people going to be searching for around christmas time, and then blog about it, when it comes to the time where everyone is searching it, you will be 1 step ahed of everyone else because you will be in the search engines already.

Examples...

Soon, lots of people will be searching the search engines for cheap deals on xmas presents. So, say for instance you do a post titled "Great deals on top gadgets this christmas" then you will be put in the search engines, and in the next few weeks when people come around to searching this, you will get loads of traffic.

A more long term example...

Whats a big event coming up next summer? How about the Euro 2008? If you make many blog posts now about the Euro 2008 like predictions etc, when it comes to the time next year when lots of people are searching about it, you will get hundreds of thousands of people look at your blog.

How the eBook release effected our traffic

So, last week we released the Kedoa eBook on how to make money online. The eBook was only around 12 pages, and it was our 1st ever ebook (more to follow).

Now, this is kind of a big release for kedoa, but if you are making a big release like this, then you may want to do a bit of extra promoting.

And, this is what the traffic was like for the day...

I would call it, a semi digg effect. When the digg effect happends, we usually get around 3,000 - 5,000 visitors in one day, so this was around 5 times less, but alot more effort to promote it.

Attempted DIY Cotton Candy Machine

Yesterday on saturday morning, Jim and I decided to try out the cotton candy machine diy video on how to build your own cotton candy machine. We took a few photos and videos. It took a total of 6 hours to make, but we substituted some of the materials needed that we diddnt have.

Making It...

When we made it, it worked great. The super glue took a very long time to dry, but it worked in the end. We had our battery pack attached to the motor which span the candy floss metal box which you put the sugar into. It span pretty fast. Everything was working great, until we came to making the candy floss / cotton candy.

Burning It...

As we glued the metal box together, when it came to putting the flame underneath the machine to heat up the sugar, at first the flame was not hot enough. Plus the fact that when we span the motor, it just put out the flame because it was creating wind as it span around.

So, we made the flame bigger, as you can see in the photo below, but the super glue started to melt because of the heat. The sugar was beginning to melt, but as the super glue melted, the motor fell into the flame, and set of fire. It took 6 hours to make and it set on fire! I would of said another 5 minutes and we would have candy floss. Maybe next time heh?

Lowratemortgage.com website review

Lowratemortgage.com is a fairly good website to find a low rate mortgage. They have a nice center design to their site when you first visit it, and they have a column either side of the site with information on it.

The only bad thing is that this is only for people located in the USA, but its good for people that live in the USA because you can search for lenders by state. They have a nice mortgage rate guide on their site, and their search engine is great aswell.

I would say that they could make some improvements. I looked up their rankings on wsurl.com, and it says that their traffic has been higher in previous months, but for october, they were just reciving under 500 visits per day. They also have pagerank 4, so this shows that many sites link to them!

Star in an eBay TV advert

Did you know, that one lucky winner will star in a new eBay Tv advert. I recived an email yesterday about it, and eBay say, that all you have to do to enter, is buy or list one item on eBay between the 9th November and the 18th November, and you are automatically entered into the draw.

In the email i received, it says that you will star as one of the animated people on the eBay adverts. It has an image with "you" printed on the green persons chair, so i am guessing if you won the competition you would star as the green person.

Widgetbucks and Feedburner both playing up today!

2 Main services to the blogging world have had glitches today. Both feedburner and widgetbucks.

Widgetbucks...
Today, i logged into my widgetbucks account, to find that no stats have been recorded for today. Both impressions and clicks were at 0.

Widgetbucks then added a message to peoples accounts saying "Impressions/Clicks reporting currently delayed". Well there you have it folks, thats the widgetbucks glitch for today.

Feedburner...
I have blogged on this many times before, but once again, feedburner is on its monthly chicklet count glitch where it lowers everyones RSS readers for the day. Here are current reportings...

Pzizz Makes You Sleep!

So, i had to purchase pzizz. Its a great piece of software but i am a bit annoyed that i had to wait 3 days to download it and there was alot of hassle. I still cant login to my pzizz account! I had to get the serial numbers sent to me.

What did i purchase?

Pzizz offers 2 download packages. The Sleep module, and the Energizer module. Each module usually costs $29 each, but if you buy them both together, then you get them for $49, saving yourself $10. Then, if you use the coupon code twit you get an extra 25% off!

Does it work?

Well, i have made my own 15 minute energizer module, then exported it to itunes, and then put it on my ipod. I tested it and ran the 15 minute module. IT WORKS! Seriously, it gradually put me to sleep, and then gradually woke me up again, and i felt refreshed. I still need to try the sleep one.

Would you recommend it?
